~ DIY Tutorial ~ How to assemble a Banner using Printable files

Happy Friday!  I've been asked several times how to put together the pennant banners using the printable files, so today I just wanted to show you how I put together the Happy Birthday banner shown in Nikky's Parisian Birthday Brunch with the printables from the shop.

 Putting your banner together it's very Simple!

1. Print your files on regular 8.5"x11" white cardstock paper.
2.  Cut out using a paper cutter or scissors
3. Punch small holes on each side of each pennant
4. String a small ribbon through {Either from the back or the front if you want to show more ribbon}.

You can also attach one pennant with the next one individually with little bows, which looks very cute too.

~ Tutorial ~ How to make Groovy Tye-Dye Cupcakes Decorating Tutorial

As seen on Valeria's 6th 'Groovy Neon Doodle Party'

I made these for Valeria's 6th B-day Party a couple of weeks ago.  The theme of the party was inspired by the 'Neon Doodle' Party supplies collection from Birthday Express.

 To get the Tye-Dye effect I just tinted buttercream icing in 4 different colors.
I filled my piping bag by scooping in spoons of all different colors until full and then I piped on cupcakes.

To make Buttercream icing to frost 24 cupcakes you'll need:
8 cups (1 kilo ) of icing sugar
 (2 sticks or 250ml) of butter, softened
2/3 cup (150ml) of milk
2 teaspoons (10 ml) of vanilla extract

In a bowl beat butter until fluffy. {In low speed- so sugar doesn't blow everywhere} Beat in sugar alternately with milk, making 3 additions of sugar and 2 of milk. Beat in vanilla extract.

Now divide Buttercream icing in 4 batches and color with gel food color.  {Color carefully, just a little big goes a long way - 1/8 of a teaspoon or less will do}

I used a cake mix for my cupcakes and made my own buttercream with the recipe above.
I put together the picture sequence below to show anyone who feels intimidated to use a piping bag that is not something difficult to do and you don't need to be a
baker to do this.

  I wanted to show you how to put together a piping bag.  You need the bag, the metal tip {I used a Wilton 1M} and a large size Coupler {which is the white pieces and consist of 2 parts a ring and a base}

1. Remove ring from coupler base. Insert coupler base into the bag and push it as far as it goes.

2. Mark with your scissors the spot where you are going to cut. Just a little bit under the first screw thread.

3. Push coupler base back up just so you can cut and push down again.

4. Put metal tip on the outside and secure with coupler ring.

5. That's it. I fold my piping bag over a glass, I just find it easier to fill that way. Now just fill your piping bag with the buttercream icing.  I just filled with a little bit of each color and piped on cupcakes.
6. To make the swirls start at the outer edge of the cupcake, work inward to the middle and up.

You can purchase all the supplies at Michaels, Walmart, Bulk Barn or any other baking supplies store.
I hope you enjoy my tutorial and if you haven't tried before, try it out, I promise you piping is so much fun!

~ DIY Tutorial ~ How to use party printables to make cupcake toppers, tags and water bottle labels

How to do cupcake toppers, treats and favors tags using the party circles:

  I had already posted some of this info in different posts but since I am getting a lot of questions on how to use the party printables, I decided to do a separate post about this.

Favors and treat tags:  Download and print file on white card stock paper, my designs are done to fit on a letter size 8.5 x 11 paper, cut into squares or use a paper punch of your choice.  After you have punched out your party circles, make a small hole punch to insert your ribbon.

For cupcake toppers, download and print file in white card stock paper, cut into squares or use an scalloped or circle punch and attach to 4" lollipop sticks {available at Michaels, Waltmart or Bulk Candy store} using tape or a small white circle labels.

You can make napkin rings too. Take a look at how I made these using party circles, ribbon and double sided tape.

Ever wonder how to affix water bottle labels?

Print your digital file in regular letter size 8.5"x11" paper, cut labels and attach using double sided tape {This is the easiest way but only works if water bottles will be served at room temperature, otherwise ink will leak from the labels}. You can also print them in full size sticker sheet {available at Business depot, office depot...}

Now if you want to make them waterproof and place them in buckets with ice, an easy and economical way, rather than buying waterproof labels, is to use clear packing tape, the width of the tape is exactly the same size as the labels. Laminate both sides of the label with the clear packing tape and then use the double sided tape to affix to the bottle. This way the ink won't leak.

You can also just attach the label to the bottle with double sided tape and then go over with the clear tape, you will be saving one step but only the top will be waterproof, I've done it before and my bottles were fine when placed in ice, but I recommend to make a trial run and place your bottle in a bucket with ice to check if water goes through. But just to make sure the ink won't leak with the last method, and you still want them in ice, just insert the bottles half way where the ice cubes don't touch the labels and the water will still be kept cold.

~ Birthday Party ~ Pirates!! 1st birthday party and Pirate pops Tutorial

 I've been meaning to post these pictures for a while. Ivano turned one in October and his mom and I thought a Pirate Party was the perfect theme to celebrate his birthday.

I had so much fun planning all the details of this party and I love how everything turned out!

 Ivano loves balloons and we had tons of them!

 We wanted to have a "cute" rather than "scary" pirate theme,
that's why we chose the color palette to be sky blue, white and red.

I made the cupcakes and designed the cupcake toppers to match the decor.

I made the most adorable rice krispie pops in the shape of little pirate faces
{Tutorial here}

The tables were decorated with tons of chocolate gold coins, pirate eyepatches,
 gold necklaces and gold wrapped Hershey kisses {pretend gems}.

 I also made the water bottle labels to match the pirate party theme.

We wrapped the party favors in white and red stripes paper and decorated with a raffia bow and made to match Thank you tags.

 All of the pirate party supplies were purchased at the party packagers here in Canada.
 Pirate party supplies can be also purchased online at Birthday express.

  All of the pirate printable collection now available at my Etsy store.

These boy party ideas were also featured on Spaceships and Laser Beams.

~ Birthday Party ~ Americal Girl Doll Party & Tutorial how to make Pinwheels

How cuter can this get? A party for you and your doll. Beth from Beth Kruse Custom Creations  styled this adorable American Girl Doll party for her daughter Ella's 7th birthday and she sure did and amazing job.

Some of my favorite details of this gorgeous party incude the petite decorations and accessories for the both girls and their dollies like the Pinwheels, hair barrettes, bracelets and birthday hats.  Beth is also sharing with us a tutorial she put together on how to made the paper pinwheels.

Here are all the gorgeous details of this party, as told by Beth:

"Every day, at some point, you can catch my daughter flipping through the American Girl doll catalog. So for her 7th birthday, we decided to do an American Girl Doll Party.
Her favorite color is blue so we picked the colors navy, hot pink and teal. We also used the american girl logo for inspiration and incorporated stars. Because we were doing it outside, I thought pinwheels and bunting would be great decorations"

"I wanted the dessert table to be set up out in our yard. It rained all day so we had to wait until the last minute to set it up.  The large ella banner was cut using the cricut and then I used streamers to ruffle the background"

Beth decorated mini-cupcakes with tall tiny flags she made using wood skewers and paper.
 She wrapped the licorice in bunches and made gorgeous cupcake toppers for the chocolate frosted cupcakes.

Some other sweet treats were the mini-poptarts on a stick {Beth got the recipe from here}, Swirly suckers for girls and pretend suckers for dolls {made by pippaloo} and cookies wrapped with bakers twine.

Lemonade Cans -A favorite of the birthday girl
{lemonade banner attached to dowel rods}

"American girl wraps for cans -could also be made for water bottles-
{make them waterproof by using packing tape!} The girls LOVED these.
They had so much fun finding 'their' doll"

Pinwheels for girls and dolls {how to make pinwheels} and goodie bags

"Matching pinwheel barrettes I made for the birthday girl, her sister and their dolls and
mini plates and cups for the dolls {american girl party supplies from joann fabrics}
I thought these were kind of pricey, but they were a favorite of the girls.
They were all pretending that their dolls were eating too!"

Birthday hats for the dolls

"The party went late so that we could watch a movie outside with a projector so we also used a lot of tiki torches.  The yard looked so pretty!"

Thanks Beth for sharing with us and putting together that wonderful tutorial.

~Party Printable~ Easter Collection {Water bottle labels, Invitations, cupcake toppers and Banner} & Tutorial

My daughters and I are hosting an Easter bake Sale for charity this week.
I just finished designing the party printable collection I will use for the treats and table decor.  You can use them too if you are planning an Easter or egg hunting party this weekend..  I will post pictures of our decorated table after the event next week.

This collection includes Water bottle labels, Invitations, Banner and circle tags that can be used for cupcake toppers and treat bags.  Click on the links to download and see tutorial below. I hope you can use them, and if you do; please share your party pictures with us!

Ever wonder how to affix water bottle labels?

Remove original labels from water bottles and attach new ones using double sided tape {This is the easiest way but only works if water bottles will be served at room temperature, otherwise ink will leak from the labels}

How to do cupcake toppers, treats and favors tags:

Favors tags

 {Take a look at this post to see how to make favors and treat tags using party circles}

For cupcake toppers, download and print file, cut into squares or use an scalloped or circle 1 1/2" punch and attach to 4" lollipop sticks {available at Michaels, Waltmart or Bulk Candy store} using tape or a small white circle label.  Place in the middle of cupcakes as you can see in the picture above.

You can make napkin rings too.  Take a look at how I made these using party circles, ribbon and double sided tape.

How to make a banner using the printable file:

Download the file and print. Cut circles using a circle cutter or scissors and a steady hand :) Make two small punches at the top of each circle and thread the banner together using your favorite ribbon.
